Bola.net - shocking news came from Old Trafford. Three days after the Champions League final and a day after the Premier League champions parade the 19th, Paul Scholes announces retirement from football.
Scholes retired at the age of 36 years after the entire trip spent his career with Manchester United. It is part of United's youth team won the FA Cup Junior 1992.
Total, Scholes has played in 676 games with the Red Devils won ten Premier League titles.
In European competition, Scholes is a British player with a record 24 goals, together with Wayne Rooney who scored the goal against Barcelona in the Champions League final last 2011.
Although retired from football and end the playing career with United, Scholes will stay with the Red Devils and will be the coaching staff next season.
Scholes himself has scheduled to hold a testimonial match at Old Trafford in August.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said, "What else can I say to Paul Scholes who have not I told you before. We will lose players who truly remarkable,"
"Paul (Scholes) is committed to this club and I am proud he would be coaching staff next season," explained Ferguson.
Meanwhile, Paul Scholes says, "I'm not the type to talk much, but believe that playing football is the only one I want and live a successful career with Manchester United is a real honor,"
"This is not a decision I took in a short time but I feel that the time is right to stop playing,"
"Being part and help this team won the 19th league is a tremendous pride,"
"I want to thank the fans for the support of the extraordinary journey of my career I also thank the entire staff of coaches and players who have worked with me for years,"
