Perform
a variety of activities at the computer, either for work or simply
enjoy the entertainment, often makes us forget the time. In fact, too long staring at a computer screen has harmful effects for our eyes.
Research
from the London Hazards Centre found that 70 percent of people who work
in front of a computer screen for more than 6 hours per day
experiencing vision problems.
Meanwhile,
Berkeley School of Optometry United States reported that about 30
percent of schoolchildren in the United States experience stress on the
eyes because it was too old to use a computer.
There is no evidence or case that shows work in front of a computer screen will result in permanent damage to the eye. But definitely, working too long without a break in front of the computer will cause a decline in vision function.
Recognize the symptomsIf
you have to stick with a computer screen for long enough duration in a
day (more than 5 hours), then watch out for symptoms of Computer Vision
Syndrome (CVS) the following:
• Fatigue in the eye• Dry Eye• The eyes itch or feel hot• Sensitive to changes in light• Double vision or ghosting• Head of dizziness
In
addition, given the increasingly widespread computer definition, then I
enter the smartphone, gaming devices like PSP and Nintendo DS, and
tablet PCs into the category of a computer screen as the user devices
have similar usage patterns with the computer.
Reduce the effects of CVSMost problems of eye disorders are common due to a computer screen at work, both at work and at home. For the younger generation, the disorder may occur due to play computer games for too long.
To reduce the effect, you can do several things as follows:
• Drink enough water during your work. Once again, the white water. Not tea, coffee or other drinks.• Avoid wind cooling air directly into the eye. Provide eye drops to moisten the eye.• Rest your eyes for five minutes every 30 minutes. You can practice by looking at objects located varies.• Adjust the brightness and contrast on the screen so as not too bright and comfortable in the eye.• Set-up screen leads to the optimal angle and keep your distance so as not to get too close to the eye.• Make sure there is adequate lighting in your workspace.• For those who frequently read the text, make sure the text size is large enough that the eye does not get tired quickly.• Make sure the intake of nutrients, especially vitamin A, adequate. If less, consume foods rich in vitamin A such as tomatoes, carrots, and so forth.
Although
the decline in vision function can be overcome with the use of glasses
or contact lenses, eye health and free from much better tool. For those that are difficult or often forget to rest my eyes, always remember that health is a precious thing. Agree?
